In 2009 CMI invested over $2 million in state of the art production equipment to manufacture Passive Solar Panel Heating Systems for Swimming Pools and Spas.  Patents are pending on various functionality and designs of what is determined to be the best design in existence.  Working with veteran industry experts yielded a product that is overmolded so the entire panel is one continuous part with no seams.  Continuing our patented Tangential design of our Tees allowed a product designed to sit flat on the roof or structure that causes no stress between the header and collectors.  These two features mitigated the two major causes of leaks in solar panels, and prompted the marketing slogan “No Stess, No Seams, No leaks!”

CMI ships 2 Thermocraft Solar panels in one box, and includes the header clamps, flexible couplings, and SS Band Clamps. This provides 2 benefits:

1) Product can be shipped to distributors and stored on shelves so it is easily inventoried, or directly to jobsites where it stays clean in both instances.

2) Factory coordinated mounting and assembly hardware is with the panels and included in the price of the panels, so no extra costs or burden of carrying components to the job and getting lost or running out.

CMI also offers Thermocraft Installation Kits, Add-a-Row Kits, and Expansion Kits, all which contain all hardware to complete the installation and connect to the pipe! This eliminates waste and excess inventory so you only buy what you need on a per job basis; no large boxes of hardware taken to jobsites and lost or wasted.  Because the hardware is purchased together, the price is lower than piecing it out.

To purchase a 10 panel system for example, all you need is: 5 boxes of panels and 1 box of installation kitThat’s it!

How Passive Solar Panel Heating Systems Work

How Solar Works

While swimming, normally the pump pulls water through the filter to capture larger contaminants. To activate or turn on the solar heating system, a valve after the pump is turned to divert water from going directly back into the pool, and sent to the Solar Collector Panels.  These panels are manufactured with special blend of UV resistant plastic, which captures the Sun’s energy and converts it to heat. The water is pushed up through the Panels, and the heat is transferred from the collector to the water.

The heated water then flows back down into pool, warming the entire body of water. In general, the pool’s temperature is raised 2 – 5 degrees each time the water is passed through the system.  It doesn’t take long for the entire body of water to become the desired warm temperature.

Once the system is loaded with water and the water begins to flow back into the pool, gravity provides a huge assistance to the pump. The pump’s incremental energy requirement to “run” the solar heating system is almost insignificant, depending on your energy costs and climate.

In very hot climate, running the Thermocraft Solar Heating System at night can cool the body of the pool water.  This will provide a refreshing body of water to swim in, and eliminate the “bath tub” feeling of too warm water.

In either function, Thermocraft Solar Heating Systems will provide you with years of carefree function in expanding your swimming season and reducing your heating costs! An Industry Leading 13 Year material replacement warranty is provided against manufacturing defects.

Reduce your heating costs!

Heating your pool with Thermocraft Solar Panels cost only pennies per day. The pump draws some energy on the initial load to push water to the panels.  However, once the heated water begins to flow back into the pool, a suction action is created and almost eliminates the need for the pump. Quoting the US Department of Energy’s website, http://www.energysavers.gov/your_home/water_heating/index.cfm/mytopic=13230

“Actually, solar pool heating is the most cost-effective use of solar energy in many climates.”

The US Department of Energy’s website also states “A solar pool heating system usually costs between $3,000 and $4,000 to buy and install. This provides a payback of between 1.5 and 7 years, depending on your local fuel costs. They also typically last longer than gas and heat pump pool heaters.”

Compare this return on investment with other options like the stock market.  Where else can you double your money in 3 years?

Extend your swimming season! In many parts of the country you can swim year round with the use of a Thermocraft Solar Heating System.  Imagine having your family together every weekend by the pool, not just the summer time.  Being able to exercise all through the winter and not put on that “winter coat” of excess weight.  Swim suits can be for use year round!

Go GREEN – help the environment! Heating your pool with Thermocraft Solar Panels virtually eliminates your carbon footprint for heating your pool. Use the natural, renewable, free, CLEAN energy from the Sun. Rest assured you are leaving the planet healthy and viable for generations to come.

Thermocraft Passive Solar Heating System can dramatically reduce your swimming pool heating costs – almost eliminate it!

Installing a Thermocraft Passive Solar Heating System shows your neighbors, family, and friends that you are environmentally responsible. Thermocraft Solar Panels use the Sun’s energy to heat your swimming pool to a desired level of comfort.  Using that energy is not only cost effective, but renewable, clean, and leaves virtually no carbon footprint.

The US Department of Energy’s website supports the claim that payback of installing a passive solar heating system for your pool is as little as a year and a half! Your investment also stays intact when you sell your home. This is one of the best financial investments you can make today.
